Skip's run test

Hi Patrick, The run went very good. PR @ 1'32'56. But everybody's GPS was measuring 13.26 - 33 miles. The race pace was 7'10". My Watch was 6'58". I was going to try harder the last 2 miles but each time I revved up I could feel a bit of cramping so I maintained a good pace. 59th out of 1020 and 3rd in my age group 20 seconds behind second and 20 seconds ahead of 4th. My quads are very soar and are still soar. I have been foam rolling and took an ice bath today (should have done it earlier). based on watch, It would have been about 1'31'30. It is incredible that I am believing a sub 1'30 is doable for this year. I did enter a bit lower result in the EN calculator to match up with what I feel is a good Z5 for me and then I will see how I hold out for the rest of the zones. I would like to run the Medtronic 1 mile coming up soon on May 8th. Your opinion please. And also any suggestions for the quads?

  • Skip - that's a fantastic result! :-) The most important thing you can do to achieve your goal of being any faster, or even fit enough for the mile, just a restful legs right now from the run. There's really nothing else you can do, perhaps a light Massage? Sometimes even spinning the legs out easily can help to flush out some of that soreness.

Why don't you reach out to me once the quads are back and we can talk about the tweaks to make for the 1 mile.
