Michele C- IMMaryland training- bum knee

Hi Coaches.

I'm still in da haus, just low key these days as I am back in school (nothing like being 50 when I graduate). Anyway, I am signed up for IMMaryland, thanks for the early registration link.

1 year ago I partially tore my R knee meniscus. Opted for conservative treatment, so I still have discomfort with long runs or running back to back days. I am planning to do some water running for the training.

How can I re-arrange the week to have the long run on Wednesday? I have more time to be nice to my knee afterwards.

Thanks

    Hey Michele,

Good to see you around again!

Please take our IM training week and give me your first draft of modifying it, based on what you know about your ability to recover, your class/personal schedule, etc. You and I will then bounce it a back and forth to determine the best template. I always found it best to start with the template you come up with and go from there.

    Thanks!

I am thinking that I will have 3 swims per week and add an easy bike to make up for the lack of run intensity and volume.

    Mon- S

Tues- B (moved back a day from Wed)

Wed- S, long run (as tolerated)

Thurs- easy bike (? 75% max??)

    Fri- S, pool run

Sat- B, R (can be pool)

Sun- B, R (can be pool)

    Thoughts? Foolishness?

  • Ok, yes, all looks good though you'll obviously need to be making game-day calls on bike and run stuff, according to how you feel in real time.
  • Thanks and yes on game day calls. Just looking to start IMMD relatively healthy and finish with a smile, maybe a slight limp, not a permanent limp.
  • Sounds good...and just be smart :-)
