Next week - Weeks 16 of intermediate short course

I am racing a duathlon C race on saturday - first race of the season. It's 2/20/2 miles.

I am thinking that I will just dial the Thursday bike back to 45 minutes zone 2, swim as normal on Friday, race Saturday, rest Sunday, and then jump into week 17 with my normal swim only day on Monday.

Am I thinking right?

  • Perfect. My only advice will be to sit down before the race, and outline a solid plan perhaps even rehearsing in your head. The first race of years always a logistical nightmare, both before and during. :-) Good luck!
  • I killed it. Best duathlon ever. Thinking the race through made the difference. I stuck to hmp on the first run, rode at FTP on the bike, stuck to my 10k pace the first 2.5 miles of the second run and then emptied the tank. I managed to catch one on my buddies and sprint it out at the finish line for a an 11th place overall finish. Thanks for the Guidance Patrick!
