Friday Practice Swim

I'll be in Texas next week supporting a friend who's doing the IM.  I would like to get in my swim workout during the open swim time on Friday.  Does anyone know how tightly controlled the access is, such as needing a participant wrist band in order to enter the water?

  • Todd, I think I read somewhere is is for athletes only and you must wear your chip during the swim. More or less grants you access. It was like this in Vegas...very tightly controlled due to the location, logistics and # of people.
I would look for a local pool and swim there.

    Thanks for cheering us on!
  • This is from the 2014 IMTX athlete guide:

the Athlete Check-In process on Wednesday or
Thursday in order to participate. Athletes must

timing chip provided at check-in. Athletes will

timing chip. There will be no extra timing chips
or wristbands at the practice swim. If athletes

  • It seemed pretty tight last year from what I remember.  It's fairly unpleasant water, too...unless you are from the great midwest and usually do your tri swim in murky inland lake water....image

You might be able to jump in away from the boat ramp at the end of the park I doubt they will come running after you but I dunno....just saying.
