Trek SC seat post problem
My wife rides a Trek SC and somehow the screw on the top tube got stripped (But we never change the saddle height). Anyways, she was at the bike shop 2 weeks ago following up on her bike fit, and they noticed her saddle height had dropped 4-5 cm. So they ordered a new part ( I think the screw, and I don't know why they don't have one at the shop). But the new part is not in yet.
Long story short, we're out on the bike today and about 5 miles in, her seat post drops downs. SO we raise it back up and its almost impossible to tighten the screw. Another bump in the road, and boom, there goes the seat post again. So today's 3 hr ride got cut short to about 30 min. We want to see if we can get back out on the bike tomorrow, but are looking for some expert advice on how to rig this seat post job so it will stay up. I would prefer not having to mess with the screw because I don't think I can tighten it again. Any advice?

2011 model.
Once you get the parts needed, for the long term, use the paste that is meant to prevent carbon to carbon slippage.
like this Tacz product.

1. The new part is probably more than just the screw. It's probably a new wedge bolt assembly. Look at page 4 of the 2011 Trek SC service manual: http://www.trekbikes.com/pdf/2011/s...Manual.pdf
2. Be very, very careful when tightening that bolt. Even the max recommended torque will crack the seat post. I went through three seat posts on my 2011 SC. Thankfully they did away with that dumbass seat post assembly on the '14 SC.
3. Like Robin said... carbon paste is your best friend.
Thanks Bob and Robin. I will wait till they get the bolt in. Probably because they don't make those seat posts anymore that they didn't have the part at the shop. Although, they are a Trek dealer. And I will look for the carbon paste. Had never heard of it.
So when you use the paste, you're still able to loosen the seat post if it ever needed to change again?
@Bob and @Robin. Thanks for the advice. finally got around to buying the carbon paste. After the problem kept occurring, got a new bolt but the seat post kept slipping down. Finally ordered the paste and no problem anymore.
