Powertap firmware update

Questioning the reliability of my PT numbers and wondering whether the firmware update would be helpful.  Is it worth the hassle? Any downsides?  DO any other devices use a "mini" USB that I might already own?  Thanks

    If you do the firmware update make sure to recalibrate after, I didn't (thought I did) and things were wacky until I did. Not sure if the firmware update really changed anything for me, but mine was several versions behind so I thought I would bring it up to the current version heading in to race season. My phone had the same connector so I used that cable.

    Are your guys talking about a firmware update to the hub? Mine's 4 years old, do I need to worry about this?

    Yes we are talking hub G3 but no I don't know if you need to worry.

    I don't know what devices you have, but my sony compact digital camera and black diamond rechargeable headlamp both use a mini USB cable.

    FYI you need a PC running windows to do powertap firmware updates.  It doesn't work on a mac, nor a mac running windows in a virtual machine.
