Hi Patrick,

I am just writing in response to our first phone conversation this morning. My current plan is as follows:

Goals:

Enjoy 6 day road bike trip June 23-28 (50-107 miles/day)

Donner Lake HIM July 27

Current training week:

Mon 6:15-7:15 masters swim, 8-9 CrossFit

Tues Run 5-8 miles

Wed 6:15-7:15 masters swim, 8-9 CrossFit

Thurs Bike 2 hours or bike/run brick

Fri  6:15-7:15 masters swim, 8-9 CrossFit

Sat long bike

Sun Run intervals

I recognize that I may (will!) need to decrease swim and XF. Part of the point of swimming a lot now is that I am still learning to swim crawl effectively. I have a kink on the left side. Once I have the form issue out of the way, I won't need to swim as much. But I do enjoy it, and find swimming a great way to get rid of soreness. Thanks,

Kristina

  • KV - great to chat with you the other day. And we can totally make this work. What plan does Rich have you on right now? That will help me decide how much you want to manipulate things.
  • Hi Patrick,

I enjoyed our conversation as well, Patrick. I also liked seeing the overall schedule. Thanks so much. Rich just has me on the regular intro trial week this week, with a move to week 1 of the beginning ironman program on Monday if I stick with it. I have done the first few workouts as prescribed (except did 7 mi hill run today and no bike), but since it's a lot of time trails, etc., it's hard for me to get a sense of what it is really going to be like, especially once swimming is folded into the program. I may have to check out the program for a few more days before committing one way or the other. Regards,

    Kristina

  • Ok! You do have 30 days to check it out. Our refund policy is pretty generous. Please let me know what else I can do to help!!
  • Thanks, Patrick.

Am I supposed to post the results of the workouts somewhere, or just the time trials? I have used the HR calculators for the bike and run; I don't have a power meter. Briefly, I ran a 5k time trial in 26:34, with HR of 150-160. The mile splits were roughly 8:49, 8:59, 8:44. I had a hard time finding a good flat course for the bike, couldn't get my HR up, but did a 50 minute 6 mile hill 6% grade, 160 bpm. That was near max effort- hot day- pretty wobbly at top. Thanks,

    Kristina

  • A hill is perfect for the bike!!! No need to share the tests here, the calculator is fine. Now it's time to put those zones to work in your training!!
