Stephanie's Macro Thread

I am battling a nasty bacterial infection . It compromised Sunday's long bike. (I only rode two hours ) and this week I missed the Tuesday workout for my IM beginner week 8 with 20 remaining. I have a half IM scheduled for the second weekend in June. My bike and swim are where they should be but due to an I T band issue the past two months My long runs have not exceeded 6 miles. My I T band seems like it's getting better. My question: thoughts on missed workouts and scheduled half.,, should I reconsider doing the half?

Best regards,

Stephanie

    Best regards,

    Stephanie

    Notes:

    • Your missed Sunday and Tues sessions are a non-issue, with regards to your question about if you should race that June half.
    • 6mi long run is the bigger issue: (1) where is at now, (2) do you think you'd be able to progress to ~10mi run by one week out from the race and (3) in your experience, would racing / doing the HIM in June come at high risk of reinjuring your ITB? If the answer is yes, then you probably should not race that half...but you still have some time to make that decision.
  • Thanks Coach Rich.

I can run 10 without a problem, albeit slow pace. My long runs were consistently 10 plus throughout the OS until about a month ago. Things deem to be on the mend now so I will play it by ear and gradually build up my base again. Thanks againimage
  • Great! Good luck!
