Bike Work out Question

Where I live is hilly, very hilly. And the area is not always conducive to the exact work out scheduled without driving to a different area to cycle. Would it be better then to do the work out on the trainer indoors to get that exact work out in or is it OK to just get the time in the saddle down at Z3-Z5?

  • Rosanne - and generally prefer that you bike outside as much as possible. If the workout calls for 2 x 12 minutes in zone four for example, the goal is just to get 24 minutes of work. If you need to do that in a different structure because of the terrain that's fine -- say 8 x 3' hills for example. That said, if you feel safer on the trainer, you can certainly do that midweek ride indoors.
