Susan Ogilvie Micro -- WKO Pacing Issues
hey Coach P,
I m in HIM Wk17 (race date 6/22) and I have been unable to hit my paces on my long runs or the midweek brick run for the past 2 weeks. Last week I did my race rehearsal and I was OK hitting the first 3 miles at Z2 + 30' (9:38), but was never able to turn it up to Z2 (9:08 pace) (I may have done the bike I "could" instead of the bike I "should" is my belief). I hit my TP mile paces last week (under duress, full walking in between the TP miles), and will do them again this week, but I did my RR Run Tuesday (I flip T and TH as life works better this way), and I couldn't turn it up after the first 3 miles again. My last 3 miles were even worse (2 at 10:XX). I have been doing my long runs religiously (at least 11 miles every week or 1:50 to 2 hours, however long I can make it), plus my TP runs and mid week bricks. I usually hit one or both of the weekend short runs.
I have been able to get my power numbers on the bike OK this week, but last week kind of everything fell apart- I was so tired I took an extra day off after the RR (no swim Monday), and another midweek (but added the bike WKO from Wednesday to my Thursday schedule). I did a sprint tri on Saturday and recorded my fastest 5K, so I am not sure what gives? I didn't take any rest days before the race (I mean, other than the 2 I had already taken!) .
Any suggestions or ideas? Should I just do the run WKOs to the best of my ability and hope the fatigue subsides as I taper, or should I stand off at all on anything (not my favorite idea?). Thanks in advance for the help! Susan
