I am registered and am planning on doing the race although I have been working out very little in the last several weeks. I have to kick it in starting tomorrow since the race is only 8 weeks away. I have done this race 3-4 times now so know the course pretty well if you need some info.
Greg Rhodes and My aunt have bothe done it abotu 3 times also. So as far as getting some information on it I am going to sit down with Greg and talk to him about it in a couple days. I am actually taking a long weekend and going and going up there to ride all weekend May 14-16. Getting excited... Lotsa hills and heat from what i hear!
I am registered for the race, never been inthat part of Texas. I hear the weather is the biggest factor, esp on on the run. Are the hills really all that bad, doesn't look to hard form the profile.
Well I rode it today. There are 8 good hills....they had me in my last gear still at my FTP despite my compact crank and a 12-25. Great ride though loved it. Im ride mostly flat land though so im not used to much hills.
A random point on this race...I did it in 2007 and found that the parking area was pitch dark and a bit tough to navigate with all of one's stuff. I didn't have my headlamp with me and I really could have used it. Would have saved me from stepping into some animal's home up to my knee!
Great race though! What I most remember about the bike was that the road surface got a little old by the last 10 miles. I did see a good sized turtle there on the bike course though. The run was hot and I felt those hills.

Looking forward to hearing how it goes!
