Pre-Race Warm Up

Greetings Tribe-

I'm doing my first 70.3 next week and wondering what if any warm up you veterans do ON RACE DAY. I've done loads of Oly's and I always tried to bike, run and swim a little to warm up.  Appreciate your thoughts!

  • 20 minutes of yoga after breakfast.
  • I usually run until I've broken a sweat for my warm up, although I'm sure it isn't the most ideal warm up for the swim start.  I'm considering buying resistance bands to better focus the warm up in preparation for the swim.  I do plan on trying to get in the water much earlier for my warm up as it usually take me a while to hit my groove and helps cut down on the swim start anxiety quite a bit.  . 

  • Usually I get a 10 min swim warm up in. The bike needs to be transition early so it makes it hard to get a bike warm up in, and the bike is my run warm up. 

  • Usually nothing. I don't do a swim because I don't want to get cold witing for my wave to start. Not ideal but my thought is that it's a long morning and I'll be warmed up soon enough...
