Garmin Edge 500 and Multiple Powermeters

So, in my last race, my Garmin Edge is detecting multiple powermeters as I head out on the bike, but it wouldn't lock on anything.  I hit enter a couple of times and it just zeroed out...no power for the race.   I have two powertap race wheels and it does the same thing in the garage until I get outside and have it search again.   How do you prevent this from happening in a race?  Is there some way to lock in the powertap you are riding for that day?

Try pairing it before race by itself and it should retain that pairing and not search for additional power meters.

Thanks, the night before my last race, I did a power meter search in my hotel room and thought I had a lock, but apparently I didn't.

Paul, my Edge 500 keeps a numeric ID for my power meter. Once it's paired you should be set for life unless you do another scan (rescan) and fail to pair, which is apparently what happened to you.

You have 2 different PT's....I also have 2 different PT's on different bikes....on the Garmin I select the correct bike profile before I start the ride...then the Garmin knows which PT it's looking for (see SH comment about ID)....I've also experieinced a similar problem on a group ride....it wouldn't pick up my PT but I did find multiple PT's....turns out my PT battery was dead...replaced overnite and all was fine in the a.m.

@ Jeff - I think I better change the battery just to be sure!!
