Getting to race start ?

I'm staying 1.6 miles away from the Swim start/transition. Transition closes at 6:45 AM. My swim wave goes off at 8:20. Is is dumb to consider walking to the Park?  I'm thinking it may help keep my nerves in check and I could leave around 6:00.

My other option is driving to the shuttle point which is 2 miles from the place I'm staying-I'm thinking I'd need to leave very early to deal with parking.

Any thoughts?

  • I probably wouldn't walk if it were me... I'd rather save my legs for my race performance. I think too, that area is a little iffy once you get away from the water... I def wouldn't want to be walking alone that early in the morning.
There is lots if street parking, and that's what I always do. In the past, if I get there around 5-5:15 parking isn't terrible yet. If you wait until 5:30 it will suck.
Shuttle can be a good option. Never used it myself tho.
Just make sure you allow yourself more time than you think. There is no worse way to start your day feeling rushed!
