Hip stress fracture?
Hi all,
I developed pain in my left hip after running 2 weeks ago. The run itself felt great. It wasn't until the next day that I started feeling pain. It didn't hurt to bike or swim, so I did that for a few days. Then tried to run again, but the pain returned immediately. Went to the doc. Xray showed nothing. Have an MRI scheduled for this coming Thursday. The doc said it was okay to swim and bike until then. I've been scared to bike though because, from what I read online, if it is a stress fracture, then I shouldn't even ride. Should I try a ride on my bike trainer to see what happens?

A doctor once told me not too long ago that if you go online to find the cause of an issue you are having before you have seen a doctor about it, you will very likely find something to explain what the problem is.
Meaning..Speculating does no good. I would continue to do what you have been doing (biking and swimming) as long as it doesn't hurt and cause you pain. If it hurts then don't do it until you get checked out.
The MRI is the answer. It will either show a hairline stress fracture not detectable by X-ray or eliminate that diagnosis as the problem.
Hoping you identify the root issue and heal fast.

Are you doing any pool running? Was thinking I need to get one of those floatation belts so that I can try it. Any recommendations?
