IMLP - Week 14 - Weekend Ride plans

Training has been going well to this point, with a couple of the Sunday rides getting shortened, but over all no injuries.  Last week, work had me move/skip a couple of the mid-week wo's, but I don't think it hurt too much.  This coming weekend is a little trickier...

I'm working at our church fair on Fri and Sat.  It's pretty much a full day, both days.  On Fri, I'm planning to do the planned wo (swim and run).  I'll have them done before I get to the fair.  But Sat is the big question (and potentially Sunday).  Sat is going to be a full day (9-4PM) and I think trying to get in a 5 hour ride before 9AM would be tough.  All my workouts happen very early and so I actually could have done a couple of hours before the 9AM start, but reality is all be at the fair till 7PM Friday, so I think it will be a bit much.

So could I just maybe do a run or something on Sat AM (maybe the 1x1mile+) and then move the 5 hour ride to Sunday (and lose the 3hr ABP)?  I could possible try to move the 3 hr or 5 hr rides to mid-week (what adjustments/where would be a question?), as my work is somewhat flexible (I work from home).

I am trying to do a mini big tri week camp next week as I'm taking some days off work.  It will be out of the home, but the family says they will support me.  With that, my gut would be to just drop the ABP sunday ride or the Sat 5 hour ride which I would have moved to Sunday (which?).

Might be a little confusing, so let me know if clarification is needed.

  • David - you are right on track; given there is a looming Camp Week, drop the ABP on Sunday, replace with Sat ride, run total of 60' on Sat with the 1 mile in Z4 with the remainder in zone2/MP. Good luck with the fair!!
  • Thanks for the feedback.  Good advice.  I think I'll post a separate thread on my thoughts for next week.  Reading back over the Big tri week protocol and some other things, I'm trying to plan how next week might work and trying to be smart with how a "mini" camp week might work.  I'm a little concerned that a camp next week is probably a little closer to the target race than might be ideal.

  • Feel free to post it here and I can go thru it. :) camp week next week is when it supposed to happen so it won't be "too" much IMO.
