  • Super helpful, thanks Chris.  Look how much room the swimmers have!

  • Not sure if this is supposed to make me feel better or worse... I hate swimming image
  • Should make you feel much better ..
Have done the moshpit and timed entry
And I tell lot less anxiety on the latter
  • 100 times better than the old IMCDA mass start. I intend to repeat this race only because of the swim change. I've done 7 mass starts and IMCDA was the scariest because of the small beach. Finally...some sanity!

If you hate swimming, this should make you feel better. The mass starts with 2500 people apparently multiply the anxiety some people feel about open water swimming. This rolling start makes the swim seem much more like a time trial, not a war for space in the water. It may still look crowded, but there is *much* less contact & conflict than the old way.
  • That utube video was awesome!  We've been talking about legal drafting on the bike, do folks have any strategies for drafting in the water?  I'll check wiki, but would value any thoughts, ie is it worth the effort to try it or better off just swimming your own swim?

As crazy as it sounds and as much as I'm not a great swimmer, I can't wait to get in the water and get started, I bought an extra slightly thicker cap that I might wear under cap they give me, not too thick but will likely go for that approach if water temp close to 60.  Makes it feel a little tighter on your head, but once I got used to it it was not bad.

    Thanks again!

    Bill

  • Wow...that's amazingly calm. Not sure what to do if I don't have to bring my brass knuckles and shank to the swim.
