Bryce's Micro Thread

Just starting the ironman program week 9. I did a HIM on the 7th and then kind of took last week off. Last week I did do the bike test and then I did the big day on Friday. This week I have a lingering Achilles pain and skipped my brick run this morning. Wondering if it is a good idea to hold off on the long run tommorow and just pick up running again next week when I will hopefully feel better? Just wondering if these runs are important enough to push through some pain or if I should just wait until my ankle feels 100%.

  • Yes to rest given the fitness (and fatigue) you have built up. I'd rather see consistency vs distance or speed right now. So think 3x40' runs during the week. Next week we can go 40/40/60....all on a flat soft surface; then we can go bigger if need be. But first is getting you back on track. Keep me posted!
