Using BestBikeSplit for best race-specific rehearsals

Many of you may know that I'm in preparation for IM 70.3 Zell am See to qualify there for next years World Championships which will be held at the same venue image

Background info:

I already did this race last year placing 4th in my AG but they completely changed the bike course in 2014 and also the run has been slightly changed. The bike course last year was super-easy with only about 500m of elevation which have been collected by just rolling across some minor hill. For this year they changed to a single-lap course with one REAL climb starting at the 21k mark so thats a nice 30' WarmUp but then it really gets cracking ... about 30-35' of climbing (14k with 650m of elevation) with the steepest segment right at the end.

The idea:

I fed "BestBikeSplit.com" (http://www.bestbikesplit.com/public-race?r=5745) with all of my data and calculated a race-plan based on IF (which I set to 86%).

Now looking at this race plan I "smoothed" it a little bit (get rid of rolling hills and/or corners of the original course) and created a training workout on Garmin-Connect that I plan to use for my RR rides and maybe also for some of my Sunday ABP-rides from the HIM-Adv plan.

  • Would be nice to know what you think about this plan ... everyone's invited to comment/critic!
  • The guy that runs and built the bestbikesplit site is one of my local tri peeps, Ryan. I'm sure he'd love to see your pre and post-race data if you'd allow him!
  • That would be cool!
Sure I'll share my files with him. Would be awesome if you could just send him my mail address >> zwuba.teamsm@gmail.com
