I meant to post this last week, but an unexpected visit from the stomach flu knocked me out this week.  The only saving grace is that this was a testing week in wk 12 of the HIM plan.  I move from the GF block to wk 10 of the HIM Beg plan with a bump to my bike and run zons.  I am having difficulty with the new run pace (Z2 7:48).  I cannot maintain the paces written on the Thursday long run.  I can maintain it for the first half, but I am +1:00 off of my pace during the second half.  Do you suggest making any adjustments or to keep adjusting to the new paces?

I can maintain pacing for all of the other run work outs, but am struggling with the added distance/time since moving to the HIM plan.  Mind that even though I missed my pacing, I still dropped 45 min off of my 13.1 time.

  • Phil - hope you are back on track!! There can be plenty of friction when the distance jumps....I recommend you half the difference btw your old zones and the new one. If you were 8:00/mile and you are supposed to be 7:30/mile now then go 7:45s for a few runs, then slowly work your way up. As you noted, your progress is great...let's keep it steady!!
