running form

Hi team,

I had a friend filming me while I was running on the track. Would love to have some feedback on my form.

  • I was curious (not a coach), watched it, and then googled this by TT bike fit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFxPlUKrZPQ

I ain't qualified to apply it, but there may be some lessons there.
  • Catherine,

Looking at you from the front I'd suggest not swinging your arm across the body exp. right hand swinging over to the left side when you run. keep your arms a bit more relaxed swinging/pumping not crossing your center line.
Pumping your arm without crossing your center line will give you better balance and allow you pick up your cadence with practice. Try this out for example go out for a run pump your arms your cadence just picks up.

You look good otherwise to me, that is my 2 cent.
  • Hey Chris, thanks for the video. it kinda depressed me though... so much work to do image but it was helpful

Hey David, you right, I see it now! thanks, will try on my next run.

    Thanks image
  • I think you look pretty good.    nice efficient ironman marathon type stride.      pretty good head to shoulder to hip to foot strike straight line with slight forward cant.

maybe calm the upper body side to side movement some?     not sure how to actualize this though.

  • Thanks Robin! I did focus on not "crossing over" my upper body during the last fun runs. I'll ask a friend to film again next week to see if there is any progresses.

  • one tip to quiet upper body and minimize crossover: rethink the armswing, and instead of the arms moving forward, make an effort to think of pulling the elbows back. It's surprisingly effective.
