I missed your post until just now. I actually did my race rehearsal on the "course" this past friday. I put course in " " because i ended up getting lost so many times i think i spent more time off the course than i did on it. All in all, i got in 110 and the 6 mile run afterwards so it wasn't too bad, but i hope you had better success navigating than i did.
Great Job! Yes, the “course” was confusing to me too. I got lost 2x on Sat. Several of the roads/streets have different names than what IM has… like W 1st St has a W CO Rd 20 sign when coming from Carter Lake. What was worst was the WIND!!! It blow me all over the road. I saw several people being picked up because of it. I was able to have a better ride on Sunday (5:52); cutting about an hour off my Sat time.
This is my first IM, but without the wind, I thought this was a realistic course. BUT with that said, mile 64-82 was much harder than on paper…several false-flats. For me it was mentally taxing.
