Dedication Sunday

Those of us doing Ironman Coeur d'Alene this Sunday will be dedicating our races to Timothy and the Jenks family, and invite ENers @ other races to join us, along with anyone just out for a training ride to do the same.

WJ has been sharing his pride in Timothy's accomplishments over the years. While most of us have never met them, the personal connection so many of us feel is testament to both their character, and the power of Endurance Nation as a virtual family.

  • Consider it done.
  • I have a 50 mile ride tomorrow and a 35 mile ride sunday with a run and swim- all dedicated to them, if they need anything I know we will band together, if anyone wants to raise money for cycle awareness or roadID or something consider me in.
  • All training this weekend will be dedicated to Timothy and the Jenks family.

  • Done! I have a 2 hour tempo ride to my favorite vegan bakery planned with a friend tomorrow and a brick run after.

    @Mariah- nice idea.

    XOXOXOXOXOXO

  • I will dedicate my training this weekend to Timothy and to William and his family. I wish I could do more.
  • This is the least I can do....My training is in dedication this weekend as well.
  • Everyone its not the least we can do- there are over 800 people on this team- imagine if all of us took one day and for hours at a time held up one of our own in thoughts and prayers across the world- that is amazing and powerful. Imagine the lives we would touch and what would change as a result. The ripple we could start just by honoring a young man who was an amazing child and a friend of ours that we hold dearly. We are a united tri family tomorrow
  • Like the others, I wish I could do more. My weekend training is also dedicated to the Jenks family.
  • I will be putting 4TIM on my left calf on Sunday and for all my races for the remainder of the year.
  • I've put TJ on my leg - and dedicated the weekend to him and the family - what else to do?
  • Of course, my entire weekend will be dedicated to Timothy and the Jenks family.
  • To bad we didn't have their mailing address. We could fill their mailbox up everyday with letters.

  • So sorry to learn of this..... Done I'm in.
  • Tomorrow, I begin a 7 day trek to summit Kilimanjaro. I will be dedicating my climb to the jenks family. It seems as there is a national epidemic in the cars vs bikes issue, is there any charity working on education and awareness of this issue?
  • Absoutely 100% heart and soul.

    Scott- Very cool.

  • I am dedicating my race tomorrow to the Jenks family and the memory of Tim
  • Dedicating my Challenge AC bike leg to Tim Jenks tomorrow. I've never actually met Jenks but he feels like an old friend and it just seemed like I knew Tim from WJ's proud posts.
  • Tomorrow morning I'm going to undertake my first IM at CDA. I am not competing for a Kona spot and I doubt my performance will be anything extraordinary - however, I will be doing my very best to honor the short-lived life of Timothy Jenks. My 18 month old son is named Timothy - the name means "son of honor" and that's what I'm going to try and do tomorrow - honor Timothy for William and his family. He's been added to my short list of "one things."

  • I'm keeping the posts and the pictures.

We are going to have some kind of memorial after all of the dust has settled, and I want to be able to show photos of my triathlon friends who remembered T. I don't know how it will be done yet, but I know it will happen.

Good luck to all of you!
  • William, if you want an easy way to display all the pictures and you have a projector or even just a laptop you could use something like Picasa which has a very easy to use slideshow feature. Just put all the photos into a folder, select the folder from within Picasa and press play. Picasa will handle the transitions and all the rest and can continuously loop through the images.

  • Amazing how much a boy I never met could be on my mind and inspire me on my long rides this weekend. Thinking of Tim and family with every mile.
  • 42 mile bike yesterday and 10 mile run today for TJ.
