Kiwi Kev's Micro Thread

Hi Coaches,

I have RR#2 this weekend which I will get up at half past dark for to try get done before gets too hot here (prob a 2:30am - 3am start).  By the time I start the run portion is likely to be around 90-100+F with around 80-90% humidity. Therefore what pace should I target for the run RR, should I:

1. Run at the normal target pace (Z1 + 30 secs per mile - that is NOT heat adjusted)

2. Run at a heat adjusted pace

3. Drive 20 minutes and run at an indoor 650m track (with aircon temps around 72F)

If it helps this is RR for Roth on July 20, forecast for this race day at this stage is rainy and around 70F. Also I am a bigger dude (just shy of 200lbs and struggle a lot in the heat).

  • Kev - you are a beast. :) run at the heat adjusted paces, no point in working harder. Running after the 112 is not so much about fitness as it is about managing paces properly; you should be able to do the same here in these WICKED HOT conditions.

On some level I'd prefer you have epic conditions in your sim so you are ready for race day!

You might want to invest in arm coolers and even a mission cooling towel....
