WAM Double 70.3 (Sept) & Marathon (Oct)

Hello!

I waited until after IMLP to get some clarification on my double 70.3 races on September 13/14.  Per the training plan, I have loaded a Beginner IM for the training, but the suggestion was to dial it back for the double 70.3. I am assuming the dialing it back would be for the long (endless) bike riding.  I am a pretty comfortable biker, so I am not overly worried about the back to back 56 mile rides.

Also, I signed up for a marathon on October 19th, as I fear the run most on an Ironman, so I wanted to stay focused on long running as I get into the winter.  I figured I would be doing a fair amount of long running getting ready for the 70.3s, and then stay focused solely on the running once that is completed in early September.  I reviewed the marathon training plan to see the length of the running that will be needed and planned to incorporate those into a hybrid plan until September 13/14.

I also registered for IMLP 2015, which is the goal for next year - yeah!  I stopped by the Endurance Nation tent yesterday, but did not see anyone so I did not stop.

Any guidance would be appreciated!!

Wendy

    Hi Wendy,

Thanks for the detail. However, highly recommend you do not run the marathon. Please read this: http://www.endurancenation.us/blog/training/marathons-and-triathlon-training/ and circle back to me if you have any questions.

  • Will I be getting any additional details on how to dial back in preparation for the 70.3?

    Hi Wendy,

Sorry, looks like I missed that part of your original post. If it were me, I'd race each of these HIM's at Ironman pace, for all of the bike and about the first half of the run, then see if I could dial it up from there, finish the wrong strong. Please see our Ironman Execution stuff here. Very detailed.

Please review the Self Coaching Guide here for guidance on how to modify your IM plan for the week of and the week after your race.

Good luck and let me know if you need anything else!
