VO2 practices
Dear Coaches:
Just cause I like to know. I'm in HIM Adv training plan. Outseason - lot's of VO2, wk 1-12 no VO2, wk 13-? back to VO2, why the gap in wk1-12 with no VO2 wkouts?

Are you sure you're looking at wks 1-12 of the 20wk HIM plan? Or are you looking at the last 12wks of the 20wk HIM plan? That is to say, I almost never put EN athletes into more than the last 12wks (so wks 9-20) of the HIM plan, so it would be very unusual for you to be in wks 1-12 of the HIM plan.
That said, the OS is fundamentally different from the HIM and IM plans, for many reasons. One of these differences is that we have very little focus on Vo2 workouts, because (1) you will have already done that on the OS and (2) we also need to build your endurance by raising your volume. As volume increases, intensity needs to decrease at some point and we do that by losing/limiting the true Vo2 stuff while keeping the Z4/FTP/Tempo stuff.
I'm currently in wk 17 of Adv HIM, just late asking my question.
