Critic my HIM bike-setup
I thought it would be nice to get your thoughts on my bike setup for my upcoming A-Race IM 70.3 Zell am See.
The new bike course is pretty challenging as they inserted a climb of around 13km with 2200ft of elevation. I rode that hill already and it takes about 38' to get the climb done and you are riding on the bullhorns most of the time so drinking from the BTA-bottle is not an option here -> for this reason I plan to use the Specialized Virtue Aero bottle on the seat tube.
I will start out of T1 with both bottles fully loaded but I will only refill the BTA bottle as after the climb the rest of the course is 99% flat/downhill.
On race-day I'll use my beloved FLO Disc plus a FLO60 front wheel with 25mm Conti 4000SII and latex tubes.

No comment on your hydration plans, but … your bike looks cool! Also, 13 km/2200' is a 5-6% grade. You should be able to stay in the aerobars on that? I do routinely, anyway. At your speeds, that would make some difference.
I typically try to stay in aero until my speed drops below 24km/h
Got it - makes perfect sense. I thought it was probably something like that. I usually get up at about 7% or so. A lot of climbs here in the states are much steadier when tackling a long grade, 300+ meters elevation gain. The ones which aren't tend not to be paved.
Hi Stefan-
Can't add anything to critique your setup. However, I use the same Profile Design BTA bottle. Just curious: it looks as if you have it on "backwards", meaning that you have the black nose cone facing towards you as opposed to facing towards the front. Any particular reason why?
BTW - does anyone know a shop where I can get the Torhans straw-cover??
