Lead Legs During Taper

My 2nd A race of the season of the season is next weekend.  My RR went really well last Sun. but I only did 1 swim + a 2mi Z4 run yest since then due to work travel.  I did an Olympic tri today for fun (didn't push too hard + flat tire ensured that) but my legs felt so heavy and even a little sore.  I don't ever remember feeling quite like that in previous tapers.  Too much rest perhaps?  Legs in a coma?  Tell me I'll have new, rested, strong legs by next Sun?  Is this normal during taper? Thanks!

  • Your body's smarter than you are ... Wouldn't let you mess things up for Timberman by racing an Oly the week before. Just keep doing a few short hard efforts each day next four days like 6 strides, 4-6 25 yd sprints, a few VO2 intervals to keeps things freash and you'll be fine.
  • Thanks Al! I def wouldn't call yesterday "racing". image It was more like "an organized brick wko with friends I had yet to meet". Bike was .85IF and run was slower than Z1 so I wouldn't screw up taper.
