Setting new goals after Ironman

Rich,

I'm starting to feel recovered from IM Boulder, and beginning to think about "what's next."

I would like to set a BHAG (big hairy, audacious, goal) of qualifying for Boston 2016 (I'll be 40, so the time I need is 3:15).  I've never run an open marathon faster than 3:55, but my vdot is 48, so I need to make some improvement there, and then figure out  how to carry that speed for 26 miles.

I'm definitely not racing IM in 2015, but I'm open to some Oly and a HIM; with the overall goal to truly improve my speed.

What are the next steps to start to make a plan for the Fall, 2015 and a BQ for 2016?

    Hey Brett,

So are you talking about running a marathon in '15 in order to BQ for Boston '16? It depends on when that BQ marathon would be, ie, there's a big difference between trying to BQ in May vs October, for example. I recommend you use the Triathlon Season RoadMap process (under the Training tab above) to shoot me some races and I can schedule out some ideas for you.
