Good lessons learned. The flip turns really are a time saver. They also help train you for what I call "forced hypoxia"---those moments during an OWS when you can't take a breath due to waves or someone kicking your face. A triathlon with outdoor riding/running in MT in April...REally?! BRRRR!
Thanks for the support everyone. Here are the official results.
Overall time: 1:25:43; 136/351
Overall Men: 111/194
Age Group Men: 16/25
Swim time: 17:22
Bike time: 40:32 – 114/392 (since this is my weakest event, Im pleased with the results)
Run time: 27:15 – 165/392
So exactly as I predicted. Just back of middle in my age group and men’s field. Without the dropped chain I probably could have saved 30 seconds, which would have moved me one spot at the most. I was separated from the guy in front of me by 20 seconds.

I almost forgot! Linsey Corbin was at the race today and she set the new course record. Bad ass.
