Patti here. can't do camp week this week, again!

so here's the skinny.... three shifts this weekend and busy in office and extreme saddle sore.  My doc does not want me on the bike for a week!  (I think I'm gong to die!)  anyway, I plan to do race rehearsal next week on the bike on the weekend and I think I should b okay for riding by Sunday this week.  I can run and swimming in chlorinated water is good.

did 30 miles the day after nationals on the bike, out Lake Avenue.  very nice.   would have done more but had to bring bike back for transporting.

  • comment about going to die is I don't know if I can stay off my bike that long image
  • BTW, I'm recovered from minor issue with saddle sore or whatever it was... did ride last wedenday and last Sunday. tomorrow will do RR for run and do bike RR on Satruday followed by swim.
any thoughts Patrick? I did well on my run and swim today. hitting my numbers on the run in spite of the heat.
  • OMG! Incredibly difficult! Went out at 10:00 am and rode out past civilization. Ran out of water and it heated up to 103! I learned how to cool down by sitting up in the wind, so a bit slow, and then I found myself in search of the used car lot where they put out ice water for crazy cyclists like me! Did my OWS today and that was great! Although water was like a bathtub. Did my run on Friday at night. Up and down hills just for the heck of it. I'll send a picture of the ice buckets from the ride. That was heaven! Hitting my numbers on the run and swim but not on the bike but I felt like I was in Louisville for that oneimage

    Welcome back!
  • Patrick, I did my bike RR this morning and it sucked!  I think I'm exhausted!  although I don't know how much difference that makes... my normalized power was about 140.  normal for me is 144.  but then again, it is not that much different....

I believe most of the issue is not training enough consistently due to work.

this test was indoors so no issue with the temperature.  just did the test on the computrainer.  Should I go with it?  Of interest, my heart rate stayed low on this test, around 129 instead of my usual 140 for steady state.  weird.  It could be I'm just not pushing hard enough.

  • sorry, not bike RR but bike test.  I am fatigued!

  • That low HR means you are fatigued for sure. :( most important thing you can do now is make sure you get some good rest in. That plus some healthy food and good hydration might offset some of that work-related stress!!
  • thanks, Coach!

BTW, good job on getting spot in Kona!!! YOU really killed it at IMMT!
