Mass in calf muscle??
I haven't been able to run for several months. Ran for the first time on Saturday and Monday - 3-5 miles each at an easy pace. My left calf muscle felt stiff by Tuesday - similar to what I'd feel in my muscles if I do anything I haven't done for a while. On Wednesday, it was still painful and stiff, so I decided to start massaging it and noticed a mass about the size of a large marble on the muscle - right at the very back. I don't know if I had it before that, but I didn't have any symptoms. I'm going to the doctor next week if it doesn't reduce, but was curious if anyone else had experienced anything similar. Thanks

Bob, I have not seen this before without some sort of trauma (I'm a family doc). A trauma can cause a hematoma, which can then turn into a calcium mass. Is the lump right in the muscle, or is it in the back of the knee? You can get something called a Baker's cyst behind the knee. Benign and only needs to be treated if there is pain.
Is your mass still there? Do you have an appt yet?
