Chattanooga Camp Week
Thought I start a check in thread for the Camp Week. Who's in? I know we have me, Amy, Joel, Jamie. Is everyone staying at Doubletree? I will be driving up Thursday morning from the Missisippi coast arriving around 1-1:30. How is anyone getting the long swim in scheduled for Thursday? There is a YMCA with lap pool within walking distance of the hotel. I'm planning on doing the race rehearsal swim after I arrive around 2 pm or so if anyone is interested. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Its going to be a hot weekend...Hotel has a pool though!

@Mark - I might be up for the swim with you. Let me see how tomorrow morning plays out. I considered doing it before I left here but not sure I'll have time and not to mention my shoulder is bothering me. I am staying at the Double Tree also. I know we have one more member from Columbia, SC, Bob Wright, who is also coming to camp.
I'm in for camp, my first ever IM camp although this will be my fifth ironman. I am bringing my awesome husband/Sherpa who is going to help Rich out Friday on the course.
Any chance we can swim in the river?
@Rich, how many of us will be at camp?
I have 17-18 I think. Hard to tell, as I've had some last minute cancellations. FYI, I'm not organizing a swim associated with the camp. Too much liability, logistics, etc.
A camp on-site at the race location isn't complete without a swim. I'm hoping to get in the river Fri and/or Sat if anyone is interested. I don't know if I can bring myself to get in a SCY pool. I sent a message to the COWS contact asking about availability of kayaks for rent so we can have an escort - apparently the river can be busy with boat and barge traffic.
Plan B is Chickamauga Lake. Apparently it is safe to swim unattended there and it has a ~300m buoy line to follow. At the least I'll drive there to get 30-45min in after one or both days of riding.

In a busy river that I've never seen before, etc, = no bueno. Thanks for understanding :-)
Anyone want to take the lead on finding a place for dinner/cocktails after the Thurs evening sessions? Don't know what's at/near the DT.
@Rich, what's your cell phone number again? I can't find the thread where you gave it to us for camp.
Also, I have no idea of the restaurants nearby, but if no one steps up to the plate by tonight, I will get on the innerweb and see what I can do.

Last week I sent everyone a .pdf with the camp schedule, my phone, etc. Did you get that?
Here is again, please download.
And I can see that the cue sheet has only been downloaded 15 times. You do NOT want to be the only camper without a cue sheet in their pocket when I do my mandatory bike and athlete inspection Friday morning.
Ruiz didn't have a cue sheet for IMWI and he paid
Plenty of places downtown --
1. Bluewater Grill -- seafood, chicken, pasta, Craft Beer from Big River Grille next door
2. Pizza/pasta = Mellow mushroom or Local place called lupe's pies
Plenty of places for Southen food -- fried chicken, ribs, shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes etc. Some of that may not be the best before riding 112
Lots of potentially good local type places.

Let's just walk in, I have no idea how many will want to go eat, etc.
Overall it was fun (in a twisted sort of way) and the company was great. Lot's of work was put in and many beers were consumed.
