Dave Nesom--Macro Thread
Coach Rich, I'm considering my 2015 season and hoping I'll be able to get a slot in IMCHOO 2015 as it is relatively close to home. With that assumption in mind, I'd like to prep by doing an early season HIM and another mid season. I've already signed up for a local HIM (Chattahoochee Challenge Half http://tricolumbusga.com/) on April 25, 2015 and am considering signing up for 70.3 Eagleman on June 14, 2015. Even if I can't get a slot in IM CHOO will still do 2 HIMs next year and hopefully a different late season IM.
The question: Is Eagleman to far from IMCHOO to be of value from a training perspective? Should I seek to do a mid season HIM at a different (later) time.
The reason I chose Eagleman is because it is a good location to visit with family in the area and also the timing seemed reasonable as prep for an IM in September.
Thanks,
Dave

No, Eagleman isn't too far out. To set your expectations, this year I didn't drop the IMChoo crew into their IM plans until I believe 7/7/14. So you'd basically train like a HIM athlete until mid June, race, take a week of transition, and likely start the IM plan a couple weeks earlier than everyone else.
What's important is that up until mid June, you put your head in a place where you're no shit training for a HIM, 100%, and not thinking that you're training yet for IMChoo.
When you figure it out, take the TSR survey under the Training tab above and I'll plan it out for you.
