Wrapped up my first big volume week for IMCHOO.... 21:20 hrs training , Swim- 12,300 yds , Bike - 230 miles , Run- 50 miles..... Had a great weekend...Friday was a 3.4 OWS , Saturday 119 bike / 6 mile brick , Sunday was split run 15.5 miles AM and 6.5 miles PM....Kept the intensity in check all week but pushed the long bike and the long run..........I'm cooked and ready for an easy day tomorrow with a OWS only... Now I have all week wrap my head around getting motivated to do it again next weekend!
Keep moving forward everybody we are almost done the hard part!
@Jodi....sorry to hear about your glute , pinched nerve , possible sciatica issue... All I can think of is to check your saddle height? Usually lower adjustment would help.
I started triathlon in 2009 from ZERO endurance background ( I was fit but it was rock-climbing fit ) my first year I had IT band issues on the right leg, the 2nd year was IT band issues on the left leg , then in 2012 I had sciatica issues that were really bad... I never felt it while training or racing (not much anyway) but it was a night time sciatica that would keep me awake in pain... very very bad and this lasted for 3-4months I was going insane...... I believe my issue with sciatica that year was a new saddle I was trying out (Adamo) and I also think it was too high (didnt adjust height when I installed it)... I have had some little niggling glute/sciatic issues this year and lowered me seat and they improved but are still there in the back ground .... Anyway I'm 5 years into this game and the consistency of training over 5 years and balance of intensity (finding out just how much hard I can handle) is finally paying off.... So while I feel like have a handle on how much I can take its finding that balance... It really is about consistency over time and not just a month or two but years... Slowly adding to the volume and intensity and adjusting to what you or I can handle individually..... I dont do half of the intensity in the plans anymore. But when I do a hard wko I make it hard and when I do an easy one I make it easy....I also have had 2 herniated disc's in the past which I am always aware of triggering!
@Tim, thanks so much for your words. That does describe my pain, and I did just give up on a new saddle and went back to my old one. I will check the height. But I think it may have been Thursday's long run of 2.5 hours followed by a nine hour drive right after showering. Then the return drive home the next night.
I have been doing long stuff since 2007, and have sailed with no injuries at all until this year. It's all little stuff, nothing to stop me, just wears on me. I look forward to meeting you as I have enjoyed your contributions to these forums and the dashboard.

Today brought in a 3800 yard swim followed by a decent run.
Tomorrow back at the FD x 24 hours so will do a recovery ride (BLACK) out of TR. Trying to keep the legs halfway descent for Thursdays 3 hour run.
Headed to Wisc to cheer on everyone Saturday so will get in the 5 hour run in the sweet dark sky. Love biking at 0400.
