Plan advise

Hello Coach,

I have not figured out my plan for next year. I think I will sign up for a IM 70.3 early in the season and I just signed up for my first full: IMMT. Right now I am also signed up for a half marathon on 10/26/14. I ran it last year in 2:00:18 and would like to at least have the same time again. I don't think I could do it right now though. I started following the intermediate half marathon (balanced plan) but adjusted the training zones based on 2 h half marathon pace which is faster than my last test. I figured if I want to run fast I need to train fast. So far it has been working fine but I am not sure if I could complete some of the workouts (I don't think I can run 7 miles at goal pace - 5 sec. right now). But I might be wrong. What are you recommendations?

  • So good to meet you in Tremblant!! You have a ton of time between now and race day. Don't force those paces early, take the 8:00 target pace and then measure back to your pace (say it's 8:20s) and cut the difference in half (8:10s in this example) and run to that until you retest!
