Perform Diuresis
Does Perform make anyone else pee like a race horse? It seems at every race when I hydrate with race course Perform I can't stop peeing. I don't have this problem in race rehearsals but I have noticed the race course Perform is more concentrated than when I follow directions with mixing the powder.

I am interested in this discussion also: I peed 4 times in line for the swim at IM LOU, 3 times on the bike (stopped to pee, not "on" the bike), once at T2 and once on the run. I use Infinit plus 1 scoop of perform (more to add the taste than anything else). I also took 1 salt tab per hour on bike and run. I wondered it too much sodium would cause this or ???? (I calculate I'm taking in roughly 800 mg of sodium per hour on bike - had 2 tabs the night before and 1 in the AM with breakfast).
I have traditionally had to pee at races (nerves probably) but even this was a lot for me. And but for the pee stops I would have moved up 1, maybe 2 places in my age group (I was 7th). During training I drank the same formula and same salt tab regime. At IM LOU on the bike I did drink the water on the course - grabbing one bottle at each aid station and using it to drink and pour over my neck.
I will be researching this and asking my Dr (who does IM races also) but if anyone has already done research on this and can share that would be great too. My next full distance is Lake Placid 2015, but I'll be doing some 70.3 and Olympics between now and then and can test out new theories.

Last year and this year drinking the premixed perform at Lake Placid I could feel it was going through me just as fast as it was going in. And Yes it seemed to be going through me much faster than drinking the powder mix at home when training.
I use Perform all the time....every ride/run/RR. I pee'd more times on the IMTX course on race day than usual, despite same intake as RR's and similar temps. I think some of it is nerves. No question that being nervous/anxious or cold heightens the urge to void.
Personally/IMHO, I'd much rather pee a few extra times than risk starting the marathon dehydrated at all. If you can't pee on the bike, you'll sacrifice a few minutes, but if you get dehydrated on the bike, you will sacrifice lots of minutes on the run and have a miserable run.
@Mark I am interested in your comment about beet juice. Can you tell us about your protocol on the supplement thread over here

It will be interesting to see if Gatorade endurance creates a similar effect...it has slightly more sodium than Perform per serving.
Dave scott, in recent posting, says not to drink more than normal in the days before a race. Different than our protocols.
And i am starting to rethink en thoughts on adding salt if stomache goes sour. Does not make sense to make stomache higher osmolality to get absorbed by blood at lower osmolality.
