GUYS! I tore my plantar fascia today on a run. Will be on crutches and in a boot for the next 3-6 weeks. I still plan on doing Augusta if I am off crutches by then. I am really bummed after putting I the work so if I have to crawl to the finish like Julie Moss, then that is what I will do ((((
@Margarett Oh no! So sorry to hear that! Hope you get well soon and I admire your guts to take on the race injured. Looking forward to meeting you for the Saturday dinner
I have to go out of town Thursday to Saturday for a funeral. This just came up. I will get my long run in on Thu before I leave. I messages coach P about how to modify the week
Thomas could you share your plans for the ride in Augusta? If it would work with my work schedule I would love to join y'all. Since the swim and bike are my only areas to be strong in during the event!
@Margaret - I plan to drive up on next Thursday (09/11) afternoon and do the bike RR2 and the 1 hour brick run on the run course on Friday morning (starting time -7-8 am). I have a retreat with my daughter this weekend so I may hack my swim RR (which is supposed to be 09/05) and do it at Lake Lanier Van Pugh on Sat, 09/13 at 7 am.
@Don - sorry for your loss - take care this week and let us know if there is anything we can do to support you.
I did another 13.1 today in just under 2 hours. I made the adjustment to go 20-30 seconds slower the 1st 4 miles. That made a huge difference in my energy level for the last 5k. I will definitely update my race execution plan based on today's results.
1st 3-4 miles: 9:10-9:15 pace Next 6-7 miles: 9:00 pace Last 3.1-4.1 miles: 8:30-8:45 pace
Nutrition plan I developed worked fine again so I think I am good there unless it is extremely hot on 09/28.
