Chris Fugate's Macro Thread

Coach,

I just completed my race report from Louisville.  I'll let you read the details.  I was happy with the result but still very hungry.  I've progressed from 21st in AG (Wisconsin '13) to 17th in AG (Louisville '14).  I'm stil very conservative on the bike but have figured out how to run.  I"m debating on my big race for 2015 and here are the options in rank order.  I'm really wanting to focus on finishing top 10 in AG in 2015. What are your thoughts on training the remainder of 2014?  (I'm not burnt out and ready to race...would even entertain a 70.3 prior to end of year or Half marathon/marathon)..Another option maybe to ramp up the bike throughout the rest of the year to build a 2015 base?  Thoughts?

1. Boulder

2. Chattanooga

3. Louisville

4. Wisconsin

  • Hey Chris,

Congrats on Louisville! I'll be sure to check out your RR. Regarding what race(s) to do next year, the best race is always the one that you can prepare the best for, given the timing of the event. Your list above is rather spread out across the calendar -- from Boulder in early August to the new Louisville in October -- you should narrow the list down by focusing on the timing of the events.

NovOS starts on Oct 27th. I've been putting athletes into either the Bike or Run Focus plan from now until then, then the OS, etc.
If you were to race a HIM instead, I'd have you do that, then a Focus block, then JanOS starting Jan 5th.

When you make a race decision, just complete the TSR survey under the training tab above and I'll plan it out for you.
  • Thanks Rich! I filled out my TSR survey.. Note: I want a half prior to my Ironman and usually do 70.3 Kansas but for some reason they don't have a date yet? any insight here? I guess my other option is 70.3 Boulder 6/13...would this be on the same course?

    Thanks,
  • Ok. When I do your TSR later today I'll use the '14 date for KS.
  • Rich any updates on the plan?
  • Hey Chris,

Please see the PM I sent you a few minutes ago. We're having some technical issues with the tool and are working to sort it out. Thanks for your patience.
