patti's ITU, Edmonton

Edmonton was interesting.  A really beautiful city.  Lacking in fresh fruit but long on beer.

Organizationally challenging for our team.  lots of misinformation.

Very cold start!

The swim was lovely.  I followed some slow off course feet, though and lost some time but... the water was wonderful!  leaking goggles were no problem as the water was temperate and felt good and was mildly chlorinated!  (note:  Allistair Brownlee lost his cap and goggles on the second round and still came in first!)

I loved the bike course!  I wish I had known the course a lot better as I believe I could have worked it a whole lot better.  wide turns and clean streets and fast!  Anyone who wants to do a USAT team USA event, be sure to educate yourself about the course.  (The folks on the course directed me incorrectly on the bike and at the finish line on the run.)

The run was also really nice!  This might seem odd to most but my favorite part of this experience was running without socks!  I'd never done that before! and it got me some time in the transition area although my fingers were so cold after the bike I couldn't unclip my helmet or put my shoes on.  I'm looking at the Altra 3-sum for any oly's in my future.

I didn't have a stellar performance here and was about 10 minutes off my usual time but... even if I got spanked, I learned some lessons and I found I have extra gas in the tank for the run after doing the extra run training this year.

Thanks EN!  see ya in Chicago!
