Short Course week of Sept 7-13
OK, the move is in full swing!
1 U-haul truck load to Winston over the weekend and I'll bet you can guess what that did for my training. Got in a nice bike before I left and a run while there so that is about all I could do besides load and unload the truck. This week will be better.
Lots of Great Racing NEWS! Great finish by Joe in his event over the weekend, Elizabeth had a great showing and lots of other team news on the dashboard. So much MOJO!.

Well it's done. Best in the West is complete!!! WOOT WOOT!
David and I smoked it. Had a fantastic weekend. I raced the sprint. 500m swim, 12.4 mile Bike, 5k run. This was a tough course. I swear they went and found every hill they could. Maybe even bought ones special for us! I took 9/14 in my AG on a tougher course and with a dragging front brake pad. (thought I had that fixed). PR the swim by almost 10 minutes. Felt like it too. Water temp 70 degrees. I am so happy, proud, elated, ecstatic, excited about my race. Had a mech. problem on the bike but oh well. I'm just THRILLED!
@David- WOW! What an amazing weekend. I loved hanging out at the lake. What a blast. Our next tri is going to be HEART of THE Valley in Albany next spring. See you when the rain stops! Thank you. It was great watching our kids kick it.
Race report is up for your critical review. Please don't make me cry.
@ David- Turned out we had more team mates than we thought. Anita was racing the HIM. Found out when I read her race report. Bummer, I would have loved to meet her.
Question- Now that it's the end of the season, would you schedule a phone call with Coach? I don't want to waist his time if you guys don't think it's worth it. I'm only going to be doing OLY and maybe a HIM next year.
@Jacklyn - great question. I think after you do your own season analysis looking at what you did right and the training that clicked, then did some basic planning for next year like A-Races and OS, yes. I might do it this year but want to do my homework first so when thy ask, "so, what went right this year?" I can answer.
@ Joe- I have to test next week. WOOT WOOT! I think I will wait to schedule a call until I have that data and Kona has passed. I have met my personal goals long and short term for this year. I just need help focusing on short and long term for next year. Have my event schedule for 2015 pretty much figured out.
How do I decide which coach to talk with?
When doing the phone call, what kinds of other questions do they usually ask? I can see what went right and what went wrong.
There was some protocol that was something like, for bike or swim = Rich and for run = Patrick. However, I seem to always get Patrick when I ask for advice or coaching in the micro forum regardless of type question. From the advice I have received from both, it was right on.
Some things to look up in the wiki as you start to develop a plan. Big bike week, big tri-week, run focus, and bike focus blocks of training. Coming out of the OS, I have done some of these and it helped work some areas that i felt needed some work. This year, I am going to the Blue Ridge Training Camp in March and try and do a "big bike week" there.
Congratulations on making your goals. I like the motto at the end..."skin in sideways...". Very cool!
@ Joe- Thank you for your advice. Kind of nervous about actually talking with a Coach. I think i'd rather toe the line. They're rock stars ya know! Started your suggested reading last night. Nice review. Forgot a few things. Have a cool day.
My signature line was a dashboard thing someone posted back in March. I printed it off and it hangings on my pain wall. It supposed to be "skid in sideways." I fixed the spelling. Hadn't noticed it.
@ David- Sorry I have to work that day. No Beaver fever for me. If you do let me know. I'd love to hear how it goes.
