Skip's Marathon Oct. 5th

Hi Patrick, I competed in the Madison Ironman on Sunday. I qualified for Kona  I am entered to run the Twin Cities marathon on Oct. 5th. Is there a training program I should be following, or do you need to customize it? Please respond soon.   Call if you can. 763-682-2080.

  • Skip - first off, congrats!!! That's just
    Plain awesome!!!!

Second, you can't really train at this point as you need to recover, minimum, for two weeks. We have a transition plan you can load into your account -- follow that for two weeks and we'll see about that second to last week when we get there.

Remember, you just did the biggest workout of your life...there is no additional fitness to be gained, only a deeper hole to be dug at this point!! :)
  • Thank you! With all do respect I have done harder workouts, but I know what you mean. Let me know the plan when you can. Right now I am just walking around the block and stretching. I had a chiropractic appointment and massage (not deep tissue). I will be going to the club and do some real light weight lifting for upper body. I need to start that for work. I install Christmas Lighting.
  • Skip, I suggest you go to Training Plan / Move Change Plan and load up the Beginner Balanced Marathon Plan to end on your Marathon. This week we can look to do those workouts by time, not intensity...but first review the week and let me know what you think of the layout / workouts. I really don't want you to do any long run (you don't need to) so we can leave room for your weights.
