2014 IMCoz - Good news and Bad news
The good news is, we have a race captain.
The bad news is, its me!
This will be IM #3 for me and 3rd year w/EN. I am squarely MOP so I won’t be able to provide insight into what it takes to podium, but I can try and keep us organized. My first orders of business will be to get a weekly training thread up and running and attempting to set up a team dinner. This is my first time in this role so if any of you have ideas, I’m open.
More soon. My day job is calling…

Hurray! We have a Captain! Thanks Jimmy!
hola,
what tips can you give me about the wind on the bike in Cozumel.
Pardon my english...
The wind picked up as the day went on. 3 lap course and the wind was blowing hardest on lap 3.
The island is developed on one side and pretty open on the other. We got a headwind on the far side of the island where you are most exposed. We should have had a tail wind in town but the buildings broke it up a bit so you end up with more headwind effect. It was a slow course especially considering how flat it was. For me it was 20min slower than IMTX and 30min slower than IMFL.
As far as advice on how to ride in the wind - hold a steady effort. Dont ramp your power up into the wind. Stay down. Eat and drink as you can. Riding into the wind is sort of like riding up a hill except with a much bigger penalty for getting out of your aero bars. Patience pays off on the headwind side of this course. I watched power and didnt even look at speed. It would have only messed with my head. Getting off of the bike I was surprised at how long it took. Looking at my AG results I was surprised at how well I placed given how slow I rode. The point is that everyone will slow down.
