Doing IMMD and have a cold, need advice!

I am doing IMMD next weekend. I hurt my foot on Monday. The doctor cleared me on Thursday to bike and swim but not run until the race. I have completed two 60 minute bikes and a 3800 m swim this week. I woke this morning with a cold. I have started taking ziacam, but am wondering if I should do my 150 minute ride today, or rest. I am concerned about missing to many workouts this week and blowing my training this close to the race. Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Brent,
i don't think missing a workout or 2 at this stage is going to make or break your race...my suggestion is rest...you already have done the work and talking to you the other day i think your fitness will be fine..if you feel better tomorrow just ride easy to keep loose but most important get that cold taken care of
  • Brent,

My knee was bothering me a week before IMWI and as a result, I stopped biking and running the Tuesday before the race. No impact on race day from not doing anything.

    Rest is best. Good luck!
  • @Brent: x2 what James said. The hay is in the barn already. Focus on getting well
    See you there!

  • Thanks! I appreciate the advice. I will take it easy and try to get over this cold.
  • Brent, it's stress, fatigue, etc. If you can spin, easily, just to break a sweat, AFTER you feel better from the cold, you'll be good. Put your energy into crafting / updating your race plan and mentally preparing to execute!
