  • Yes the official taper is here.... Unfortunately it looks like cold all week in NH.... Going to start my taper week with an OWS recovery day monday , I plan to cut it a bit short again since the air temp is 38 this AM.... Water is still OK but with another week of lows in the 30's-40's the water temp wont hold much longer... I suppose I gotta get in a pool a few times this week anyway just in case IMCHOO swim is wetsuit optional !

    Carry on , keep moving forward , think less is more , less volume , less intensity or at least time at intensity , less food , go over gear , make those lists , and get that mental game on for 14 days from now.
  • Hurray it wasnt 38 degrees this am like yesterday... But it was 50 and raining... Swam in a pool for the first time since May I think.... It happens every year when I get back in the pool and I realize I'm not the rock star my wetsuit and garmin made me out to be... Oh well still a good set of 500yd wu , 10 x 100 (12') , 500yd cd , 2hr trainer ride and an easy 3 mile brick run...

    After yesterdays freezing OWS I took some time and installed new tires and tubes .... Gonna run Flo 60/Disc combo with Conti 23's and latex....
  • Nice workouts Tim! I think its going to be close whether or not this one is wetsuit or speedsuit -- If its not wetsuit legal, that may be a good thing as the more inexperienced will choose to wear wetsuits and the bike course may be less crowded early with sketchy cyclists.

    Im finising up bike prep as well -- Running Zipp disc rear with 808 Firecrest front. I have some new Schawlabe Ironman Tubulars to install for this weekend. They have tested very well for low rolling resistance as they have latex tubes in the casing -- Will install them this weekend so I can get 1 short test ride on them next week.

    Work and a committment after work forced me to move my week around -- 5 mile run today with some MP and HMP efforts --- Will do longer swim and bike tomorrow

    Had to switch my run to today due to a commitment tomorrow morning. Holy moly what a difference a week makes! No heat and humidity like last week and I had a killer run! I ran super easy and was still finding myself in zone 2 pace for 70% of the run with NO elevated heart rate. I learned not to put my gels in my back pocket of my tri top. My race belt type phone pouch must have ejected it early on because when I went to take my gel at the half way mark it wasn't there! D'oh!!! So I was a little worried I'd feel it on the negative split return but no problems! I never found it on the return. Someone had a Strawberry Huma gel for breakfast. Having a great run is a great confidence booster for the race.
  • Well today was a double down day on the workouts d/t being on shift for 24 hours tomorrow at the Fire Department. Primal Scream and Shout baby cause I brought the Choo Choo Train to the tracks today!!!!!!

    Knocked out the swim that was scheduled for today then did my last long run of the plan that was scheduled for tomorrow......10 miler with negative splits......

  • Can I get a "Hell Yeah!" we are done folks! Had a great 2.5hr bike on the trainer tonight. Spent the day with the family and then the fella's went off to the Braves game so mamma got her ride on. Can't wait to see y'all next week!

    Evening was spent gluing up my spare set of tubulars. We are driving to the race in the family truckster so as family of 4 we will have enough goods to outfit a small country since my wife is packing the whole house up and I'm bringing every piece of tri gear I own it seems.
