  • Best race mom ever!
  • Mariah is a definitely da bomb when it comes to this sort of event! She will give her all for us this coming week, guaranteed!
  • awww you guys thank you! Seriously means more than you know
  • Race Week... They sneak up on ya don't they? Entering that oh its so good to be tapering , it so sucks to be tapering final week! My last 4 weeks have gone 21,22,16, and 13hrs training last week. Feeling good and have 4.5hrs total planned between today and saturday mostly easy with short pick-ups in intensity very much like the written plan but less. Going to spend my last couple days focussing on "Less is More" training and food , going over lists and prep , thinking about the mental game of the IM raceday. ALL the work is done , race day is about execution and whats upstairs! Its time to get excited...
  • So excited for IM CHOO. This will be my third IM. 2012 Louisville, and 2013 IMLT. I have learned a lot from the previous two and adapted my training accordingly. Can't wait to see everyone there.

  • I just added post race breakfast place to the excel sheet- a local told me its "the best biscuits you've ever had" and of course coffee etc- y'all pick a time and I can make sure we are set up and good to go.
  • @Mariah sounds great.... Pick a time early enough that will allow anyone who needs or wants to go to the awards/slot allocation ceremony at 11AM time to get there !

30 min OWS in the lake this am.... Air and Water temp's were the same 61 degrees.... Planned for an hour , the winds picked up, got really choppy! Less is More , called it a day early! I've done my wheels, tires , tubes , a few days ago , this AM installed my race chain , then noticed my back brake was sticky , ran the bike down to LBS to get serviced. Each step gets a little more real!
  • @ Mariah -- You are awesome! Thanks for all your hard work to make this a great race!

@Tim -- Everything looking good; You are right -- The hard work is done --Getting prepared, relaxed and in right mental state is key

1800 yd swim today -- felt good in the water. Worked on race plan and will post later tonight. Also made index cards with checklists -- Race morning, T1, T2 bag, Transition checklist, etc.
Tonight will finish bike prep -- mount new tires, chain/cassette, adjust brakes and shifters for one final short ride tomorrow after work.
    Its almost here!
  • @Mariah - Thanks girl! Looking forward to meeting you! If you still want to get together for lunch on Thursday let me know, I'm game.

Formulating my race plan and wondering what everyone was thinking as far as when to get in the bus line to get to the swim line?

45' OWS today at the lake with sleeveless wet suit. Temps were perfect. Mental note that I have to pull up the torso really well so that I don't get the pull in my shoulders.

  • A complete week of rest for me. We finished IMMD on Saturday and I am in full recovery mode. I look forward to seeing everyone this week. Kathy and I will not make the dinner as we arrive too late on Thursday.
  • Does anyone know what the parking situation is at Ross's Landing?

I'm staying at the Comfort Inn which looks like its 2.6 miles from Ross's. Joe Machette has a room available at Staybridge Suites Downtown which looks like 1.7 miles to Ross's. Closer but not sure worth the hassle if I'm gonna drive anyway.
  • @Tim, I could be wrong but I think parking is going to be zilch. The usual parking lot is transition, and that leaves some curbside stuff, but I would say not good. Some of you Atlanta folks chime in. Y'all have seen it more than I have.
  • @Tim - I saw quite a few surface lots and parking garages within a few blocks of Ross's Landing. I'm thinking that it will be challenging Fri & Sat but race morning it should be early enough to be a little better.
  • I thought there was going to be parking at the AT&T stadium or is that the Transition area?

  • The room that I have available is a Staybridge Suites at 1300 Carter Street -- it looks to be about one mile from the transition area.
  • Hey Joe , Was just getting ready to respond to your other thread.... Your room is interesting to me as it is closer by about 1/2 mile or so than the one I am in ... I got a suite at the comfort inn for 5 nights (basically the same price).... I need an extra night so just not sure I wanna go thru the hassle of extending at the Staybridge... I didnt see a King Suite as available for Monday night on their website but that was the first night they had available and the one night I would need to add... Rather not switch rooms for one day , specially that day ... I'll call them later to find out ...
  • Joe, also never assumed a room from someone before do you know how the hotel does it? Do I just check in on your reservation or do you actually change it? again I'll call them in a couple hours...
  • Joe , I'll take it . I need the reservation number so I can put my name on it... You only had one room. Are you going? have another?
  • It's yours. Yep...going to be there and staying at Hilton Garden Inn. Just myself, so don't really need the kitchen....long story short is:
    -We moved.
    -New Schools
  • So the forcast calls for the temps to climb into the mid 80s by Sunday.  Not ideal and not the historical average highs of mid 70s but better than the 100+ heat index from camp weekend. Temps are still barely into the 60s at night so the wetsuit may be in play.  Hopefully we can count on the officialy to find the cold spot - they usually do image
  • Life is good! Swapped out my room to a closer one... Thanks Joe.... Have an even closer room and parking if needed , available for use on race day... Thanks Kori and Eric , I do plan to take you up on your offer ... Weather looks great for race day! (yeah still early).... Water temps TBD yet but prepared for either.... Picking up my bike with hopefully a flawlessly functioning rear brake..

Got in a couple nice taper wko's this am for a total 63 minutes

33 min swim with a nice set of 10 x 100's for about 12 minutes of intensity http://connect.garmin.com/activity/597184237

    30 min run with 4 x 400M for about 7 minutes of intensity http://connect.garmin.com/activity/597184251

    I'm ready. Are YOU?
  • @Tim -- Glad you got a closer room -- Its always nice to be close to race site.

45 min run today with some short MP intervals -- Felt great. pace felt smooth and easy.
60 min bike after work planned to test out newly mounted Schwable Tubulars on race wheels and my frame mounted Aerobox flat kit (Torhans bottle converted to hold Tire, CO2 and multitool) -- Have to make sure its secure and doesnt rattle.
Run in the morning then load car and head out!

Potential for some heat but not as bad as what I've trained in. It looks like humidity will be low though -- May have to throw on the arm coolers for raceday.

    Ready here too.
  • Ok, the bike is in the car...the rest goes in tomorrow and we are off! Need to get out of here so I can put work behind me and concentrate on the great race I feel coming on!! I'm ready! Can't wait to meet up with the team.
  • Sorry folks - been consumed with focusing on my own thing and haven't caught up with the group yet. I tend to stay to myself the few days leading up to an important race. Is there a specific time/place for a pre-race group photo tomorrow morning?
