Please note I have decided to take a break from Endurance Nation for a little while. I am only posting this here for benefit of the team, especially those who are considering racing AmZof in the future.

  • Congrats. Thankfully, I scratched that itch in Switzerland and have no desire to do AmZof. Apart from the difficulty in the courses and the suffering involved, the two races have nothing in common. While AmZof is laid back and "blue collar" as you note, Powerman Zofingen is polished with all the trappings of a world championship ... kids events the day before, numerous sponsors, media motorcycles, press helicopter, referees, announcer near the top of the Bodenberg calling out your name and country for all the folks having a picnic watching you suffer, no possibility of getting lost on the course, stadium finish, spectators everywhere, many more athletes, etc., etc. All that stuff helps me a lot. I think I would have walked more than I did if there hadn't been people yelling 'hop, hop, hop' up into the mountains. Check my race report if you haven't seen it.

Good luck in the switch to powerlifting...I'm definitely too old for that!
