Edge 500 battery life - IM CHOO

Anyone know if the Edge 500 battery will last if I turn it on in transition at 5am so its paired up when I get out of the swim?  With the late start it may be 8:45-9:00 by the time I get to the bike and then a 5.5 hr ride.  I'd hate for it to run out of power

  • At IMWI, I turned mine on at about 6, had a 6 hr ride and it still had juice when I was done (in fact it was still on when I grabbed my bike after the race). I would guess you should be good if you have a full charge on it.
  • My 500 lasted roughly 8 hrs from the time I turned it on to when I powered off in Placid, but I'm confused why you need to start it at 5am if your swim is so late?
  • Mine always make its from morning set-up through the end of the bike leg.
  • I turned mine on before 5 am and it lasted with no problems at all till after bike at lake placid and had plenty of power left over. And I am not fast at all. You should be fine.
  • Thanks all.  I'll make sure its fully charged and not worrry about it.

@Brad -- Transtion opens at 4:30 -- I Proably will get to transtion and setup by 5 or 5:15. Then catch the bus 2.4 miles upstream to the swim start to get in line and wait. Race at Chattanooga starts at 7:30 for pros, 7:40 for age groupers. Depending on where you are in line it could be close to 8 before your race starts.
