When running Z1 hurts. What to do?
Coaches,
Currently on the intermediate marathon plan (week 20) leading up to MCM. Training is going really well, yet I've not stuck with the Z1 recommended zones. According to my plan, z1 pace is 10:00/mile. I've been running these at 9-9:15, because any slower and things start hurting. I understand the importance of running the 10min miles, but just can't get my body to do it without pain in the feet, hips, ankles, etc. Seems the faster I run, the less pain (although, fatigue sets in quickly). I don't want to get injured this close to the race, so any advice on what to do will be appreciated.
Thanks!!

If it were me, I'd run at whatever pace I felt had the best chance of keeping me heathy, and then adjust the volume downward in order to be able to sustain that effort.
In other words, running consistently and staying healthy is more important than sticking to zones, so do what you need to do (ie, increase intensity, decrease volume) in order to stay healthy.
