HED Disc Wheel

I have been thinking about getting a disc wheel for some time now. I have used Wheelbuilders aerojacket a couple of times but it isn't fully compatable with my Kestrel. I have had to make some "adjustments" to it and it still rubs when I ride it. I am looking at the HED disc with the power tap hub and wanted to know if anyone had any experience with this wheel.

  • I had a Hed disc wheel for a few years. No Powertap though. What would you like to know?
  • Mainly wanted to know how it holds up and rides since it isn't a solid core disc wheel like Zipp makes. They describe it like standard spoked wheel with carbon skins.

  • Yes, it's a standard spoke wheel (I'm assuming the Ardennes (formerly Belgium)) with a completely covered carbon fairing. I never had an issue with it. I also had a Zipp 900 disc. Couldn't really feel the difference between the two. The Zipp made the whoosh-whoosh sound. The Hed does not.

It can be trued since it's a spoked wheel. The Zipps cannot. Much cheaper than the Zipps.

Flo Disc is the same concept as Hed and even cheaper. I think the Flo disc is like $500. Hard to acquire though.
